A surface for every need
When you have a new multi use games area, it is vital that you consider appropriate maintenance to keep it in top condition for as long as possible. Each surface type can have different processes carried out which will help maintain the performance qualities and keep the sports area safe for use. NJL offers a range of services from cleaning, repair and renovation:
- Tarmac surfaces
- Synthetic turf
- Sand infill
- Rubber infill
- Brushing
- Cleaning
- Lining
There are two main types of services which we provide for – Proactive and Reactive servicing.
Proactive Maintenance
This involves carrying out regular maintenance and upkeep of the surface to improve /maintain the performance, keep it safe for use and prevent any problems or damage before it happens. Examples of proactive MUGA maintenance would include brushing, cleaning of sand fills, topping up of fill, removing debris and applying chemical treatments to avoid contamination from moss and algae.
Regularly applying this sort of proactive cleaning maintenance for your sport surfaces will help to maintain the performance characteristics, keep the area safe for use and prolong its life.
Reactive Repair Maintenance
Reactive repair maintenance takes place to repair damage which has already been done to the surface, this could have occurred as a result of poor on going maintenance of the surface, incorrect maintenance machinery, vandalism and general wear and tear. Examples of reactive servicing can include tarmac repair, synthetic turf seam and joint repairs, repainting and reline marking, as well as topping up, cleaning and rejuvenation of infill. Rejuvenating sand and rubber infill for synthetic grass MUGAs involves extracting the contaminated infill layer and replacing it with a new clean layer which will improve the performance qualities and make the surface more durable.
MUGA Surface Problems
Without proactive servicing and timely repair of any damage there are a number of surface problems which can arise for the MUGA facility and these issues can be very costly to fix if left untreated. These sports pitch problems can include dirt and debris contamination, the growth of moss and algae on the surface, compaction of infill which can all lead to a loss of porosity in the surfacing inhibiting drainage and giving rise to safety issues.
We always recommend that you implement a regular plan for ongoing care to keep the facility clean, safe and in the best condition and in turn reducing the long term maintenance costs.
